Oregon State Bar Lawyer Referral Service can provide information about lawyers in your area. The referral service is free and is available by phone at
1-800-452-7636. Participating lawyers provide an initial low cost consultation; additional fees are set by agreement between the attorney and client. Bilingual services in English and Spanish are available.
The Oregon State Bar also offers other low cost services and legal information. The Modest Means program refers low-income people to attorneys who will work for a reduced rate. The Problem Solvers program provides children between 11 and 17 a free consultation with a lawyer. Legal Aid Services of Oregon provides legal services to low income Marion and Polk County residents in the state of Oregon. They take only certain types of cases involving family law, housing and public benefits. They do not represent clients in criminal matters, traffic or driving under the influence cases, child support, accident and injury cases, small claims, trusts (other than income eligibility) or consumer problems.
