Understanding Case Types

+

Closed or Disposed Criminal or Violation Citation Cases

  • Already resolved by the court.
  • You can pay the remaining balance on a violation citation without entering a plea.

Open Violation Cases (i.e., Central Violations Bureau)

  • Requires a plea of No Contest to pay online.
  • This means:
    • You acknowledge that you will be found guilty of the violations in the citation.
    • You waive your right to a trial.
    • You must pay the fine.
    • You can request an automated review of your offenses in your case and driving record to see if you qualify for a reduced fine. If you qualify, your fine will be reduced before payment.

How to Search for Your Case

+
  • Case Number Format:

    Example: 25VI123456, 25PK654321, 25CR789012
(OJD case numbers do not begin with “SP”)

  • Citation Number:

May be labeled as Citation, Summons, or Complaint depending on the agency.
For Portland parking citations, include any letters (like “HA”, “U”, or “N”) with the numbers. sample citation 1
