Welcome to the Jackson County Circuit Court.  Jackson County, the 6th most populous county in Oregon, is home to more than 200,000 residents. Most residents live in one of the 11 incorporated cities found in the temperate valleys bordering the Rogue River or one of its major tributaries, Bear Creek. Outside city limits, residents enjoy limitless recreational opportunities in the forests, mountains, rivers and lakes interwoven across the landscape. Hundreds of thousands of visitors come every year to enjoy both the landscape and the many cultural opportunities found within Jackson County. Since its founding in 1852, Jackson County has remained a major producer of natural resources and agriculture, including more than 2,000 acres of wine grapes for over 100 different wineries. As the county has grown, it has also become a regional center for healthcare, manufacturing, tourism, and the arts.

Career Opportunities

Release Assistance Officer - Click here to apply

Release Assistance Officers determine eligibility for court appointed counsel and pretrial release options for defendants by applying Oregon Revised Statutes, Chief Justice and Presiding Judge Orders, and using risk assessment tools. You will determine who, upon release, is most likely to appear in court, not likely to commit new offenses, and/or does not pose a threat to the community or themselves. Your work will focus on interviewing defendants being held in custody, pre-arraignment, as well as victims and other interested parties for the purpose of determining risk and recommending release decisions. You will also monitor conditions of release and determine whether those conditions are being met; you will monitor those plans based on the compliance history of a defendant on a case-by-case basis.
