Oregon Supreme Court Oral Argument Information

The Supreme Court conducts oral arguments at 1163 State Street, Salem, OR 97301. Spectators are allowed in the courtroom during argument and are encouraged to show up early. In addition, most arguments are streamed live over the internet. You can access the live feed on our Web Casting page.

Appearance at Argument

The Oregon Supreme Court conducts argument in-person. Attorneys must check-in at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the oral argument session during which their case is scheduled to be heard.

Under ORAP 6.30(3), a party may file a motion requesting remote argument no later than 21 days before the schedules date of oral argument.

If an attorney is not present at the time the case is called, the Court may deem that party's argument waived. If an emergency prevents an attorney from appearing, they should advise the Court as soon as possible by calling the courtroom clerk directly at 503-986-5638.
