The Court conducts argument in-person. Attorneys must check in with the courtroom clerk at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the oral argument session during which their case is scheduled to be heard.
Under ORAP 6.30(3), a party may file a motion requesting remote argument. If the Court grants a motion for remote argument, typically the entire argument will be conducted remotely. Attorneys must check in at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled remote argument session.
If an attorney is not present at the time the case is called, the Court may deem that party’s argument waived. If an emergency prevents an attorney from appearing, they should advise the Court as soon as possible by calling the courtroom clerk directly at 503-983-8593.
