Appeal from a Municipal Court
A municipal court or a justice court may become a court of record by filing a declaration to that effect with the Oregon Supreme Court and upon the Oregon Supreme Court’s acknowledgement.

The Supreme Court has acknowledged these municipal courts of record:
West Linn Municipal Court
St. Helens Municipal Court
Lake Oswego Municipal Court
Beaverton Municipal Court
Florence Municipal Court
Milwaukie Municipal Court
Appealable Case Types
A party may appeal from an appealable judgment or order in a municipal court of record directly to the Oregon Court of Appeals when the defendant is charged with a:
- Misdemeanor
- Traffic or other violation as defined by state law
- Violation of a city ordinance
- Violation of a city charter provision
Justice Courts of Record
There currently are no justice courts that have become courts of record.
A party may appeal from an appealable judgment or order in a justice court of record directly to the Oregon Court of Appeals when the defendant is charged with a:
- Misdemeanor
- Traffic or other violation as defined by state law
- Violation of a county ordinance
