Sample Parenting Plans - Average Number of Overnight and Sample Two-Year Calendars

The average number of overnights for each parent and sample two-year calendars will depend on which sample plan you choose for your family.  Find the appropriate plan and the age range that applies to your child to see the average number of overnights for each parent.  For example, if you chose a Sample Local Parenting Plan, selected to have a special summer schedule, and your child is 4 years old, then look at "Local - Summer Schedule" for "3 to not yet 5 years" to see that Parent A has 288 overnights and Parent B has 77 overnights.  To see the sample two-year overnight calendar for that child, click on the "calendar" for that plan.  If one parent has no overnights, then there is no sample calendar.

These numbers are only good if the parenting time in the sample plans is not changed.  If you changed the sample plans, you can calculate the average number of overnights using the Division of Child Support's Parenting Time Calculator.

ASSUMPTIONS USED TO CALCULATE OVERNIGHTS AND CREATE SAMPLE TWO-YEAR CALENDARS

  • For all plans, begin with every other weekend.  The summer schedule overrides residential schedule and the holiday schedule overrides both.  There is no restart of the alternating weekends after each major holiday.
  • For the long distance parenting plan, assume 4 overnights for Parent B for the residential schedule and schedule as best as possible to coincide with school holidays that are not designated as holidays in the parenting plan.  For the Bend La Pine Schools, this includes MLK Jr Day, Veterans Day, and Presidents Day.
  • For the long distance parenting plan, assume monthly parenting time includes holidays so that there are not two different chunks of parenting time in the same month.  The best practice is to have children travel just once a month.
