If you have a court case in Columbia County, this page will help you get ready.  Whether you're going in person or attending remotely, it's important to know what to expect. 

Here, you'll find helpful information about:

​To maintain safety, decorum, and respect in the courthouse, please do not bring or wear the following:​​

​ ​  Prohibited ​Items​

  • ​​​​Weapons of any kind.  
  • ​This includes handguns, pocket knives and chemical sprays.  
  • ​​​Food and Drink. 

  • Non-service animals.

​​​ ​​Inappropriate Attire​

  • Caps and hats.   
  • ​Remove them before entering the courtroom and while at the customer service window.

  • Bare feet.  
  • ​Shoes are required at all times.

  • Sunglasses.

  • Revealing or abbreviated clothing. 
  • ​Such as shorts, tank or cropped tops

  • ​​Strong perfume or cologne.

​If your cell phone number is linked to your case, you will automatically get text message reminders for all non-confidential cases where you are a party. 

By giving the court your current mobile number, you will recieve:

  • Hearing Reminders - sent 7 days and 1 day before your court date. 
  • Updates if your hearing is scheduled , rescheduled or canceled. 
These messages are meant to help you stay informed and avoid missing court.
