Got a Traffic Ticket?

30mphSign.jpg I got a traffic ticket.  Now what?

Find out if you qualify for a reduced fine without going to court.

If your ticket/citation includes a court appearance at an Oregon “circuit court” you are in the right place. (For municipal/city courts or justice courts, you need to contact those courts directly.)

  1. See if you qualify - You may qualify for a fine reduction of up to 50 percent, depending on your specific violation and your driving record, without going to court. This requires a plea of No Contest. *  Use the OJD Courts ePay/Electronic Central Violations Bureau (eCVB) online system to find out if you qualify. You can also pay the fine online.
  2. If you want to request a trial, send or deliver a letter of explanation to the court, or plead not guilty for any reason, DO NOT use the OJD Courts ePay/eCVB online system (labeled Start Here below). Instead, follow the instructions on the citation that you received or contact the court listed for more information. You can also find court contact information on our Find a Court page.
    • Option A: “Instead, follow the instructions on the citation you received or contact the court listed for more information. You can also find court contact information on our Find a Court page.”
    • Option B: “Instead, read more about your options under Traffic Citation Options, or contact the court listed on the citation for more information. You can also find court contact information on our Find a Court page.
  3. See Questions About Violation Cases and Reductions for more information about plea options, possible reductions, and more.
  4. Need more information before deciding what to do? See Questions About Violation Cases and Reductions for additional information about plea options, possible reductions, and more.

* When you enter a plea of No Contest, you are not admitting guilt, but you are not contesting the facts on the citation. You are assuming responsibility for the citation and the imposed fine (the presumptive fine listed on your citation/ticket or any reduced fine for which you may qualify). A conviction with a plea of No Contest still goes on your driving record as a conviction. Only a trial verdict of Not Guilty or a dismissal of the violation by a judge will keep the violation off your driving record.
