What is a remote hearing?
A remote hearing is any hearing where one or more case participants are not physically present in the courtroom but appear remotely, either by phone or by video. Case participants are persons (litigants or defendants) who are party to a case with pending matters to be resolved by judge or jury.
The Oregon Judicial Department (OJD) uses Webex, an online video platform, to host remote hearings. Each court is responsible for providing individuals with the preferred method for connecting to a remote hearing and will provide case participants with a link or telephone number, an access code, and a password needed to join the hearing.
