Southern Oregon Facilitation Initiative (SOFI) FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions related to the Southern Oregon Facilitation Initiative (SOFI).

SOFI is a regionalized approach to facilitation. Our resources will help increase access to justice and work toward ensuring that self-represented parties have access to family law facilitation in all our Southern Oregon courthouses. Our SOFI goal is to have a meaningful impact on parties and families in need of assistance in rural areas where those resources are not as available.​

SOFI family law facilitators are not attorneys, they can assist any self-represented litigant with questions regarding family law case types for any of our participating counties including Coos, Curry, Douglas, Grant, Harney, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Lake and Malheur Counties. 

Facilitators c​an:

  • ​Provide information on how to find forms and how to complete them
  • Provide information about court procedures, rules, and other educational materials
  • Refer to agencies and resources that provide legal and other services
  • Provide document review to make sure forms are complete
  • Provide information about how to begin a court action
