JCIP has a vision and 3 goals:

VISION: Raising the Profile and Priority of Child Abuse and Neglect Cases in Oregon

  • Increase the quality of dependency court hearings
  • Improve the system response to the safety, permanency, and well-being of children in foster care
  • Improve judicial practices and leadership in juvenile dependency cases
To those ends, JCIP
  • designs and delivers education and training to juvenile court judges and justice system partners
  • develops and advocates for legislation
  • publishes the Juvenile Court Dependency Benchbook, an electronic reference book for judges, court staff, and juvenile justice system professionals
  • creates and maintains Model Court Forms for judges, referees, and court staff

JCIP has been working to create juvenile dependency statistical dashboards for judges and court staff to monitor their work. Please click this public link to access Oregon juvenile dependency case data. This public link includes the same data that is available to judges and court staff but does not include access to case level data. Juvenile court stakeholders and members of the public can access the following juvenile court data down to the county level:

Dependency Cases Filed, including:
  • Dependency Time to Jurisdiction
  • Time to First Permanency Hearing
  • Time to Subsequent Permanency Hearing
TPR Cases Filed, including:
  • Median Days from Dependency Petition to TPR Petition
  • TPR Cases Disposed within 6 Months of Filing
  • Median Days from Dependency Petition to Termination or Relinquishment
