Audio Transcript Requests

Audio recordings are available electronically, on a CD, or in another format as arranged with the court.

There is a cost for audio recordings as noted in the request form. Request forms and payment may be mailed or hand delivered.

Your request must contain the following information:

  • Date of the proceeding you are requesting;
  • Judge who heard the case;
  • Courtroom number (if known);
  • Case name;
  • Case number;
  • Name, address and phone number of person making the request;
  • E-mail address where electronic records can be sent to; and
  • Indicate whether we should call you for pick up when ready, mail, or send electronically to you.

You may submit your request by:

  • Mail to the Linn County Circuit Court, PO Box 1749, Albany, Oregon 97321
  • Delivery in person to the Court Cashier window Room 107 (first floor) of the Linn County Courthouse.

The cost for the audio recording varies as follows:

  • Electronic Recording: $9.00 per request
  • CD Recording: $10.00 per CD

Payment must be made in full prior to the Court processing your request. You may pay as follows:

  • Mail: Please make checks payable to the State of Oregon
  • Phone: Pay by phone by calling 541.812.8770
  • In Person: Hand in your request and make payment at the Court Cashier Window, Room 107 located at 300 SW Fourth Avenue, Albany, OR 97321

Please allow at least 21-28 judicial days for completion of your request.

To listen to the audio recording, you will need a personal computer with a sound card and speakers. In addition, a software application called The Record Player must be installed on the computer. This software is free and can be downloaded by clicking on the "The Record Player" button below. Please review the FTR Player Instructions.

Transcripts of a specific public court hearing are made upon request. In order to receive a transcript for other than criminal cases, at least one of the parties must request that the hearing be recorded and pay a recording fee before the hearing is conducted. The transcript is made from this recording of the court event. See Audio Copies to request a recording.

Transcription is prepared by an independent contractor. The request for the transcription is made to the Judicial Support Supervisor. Except where a transcript is ordered by the State, the cost of preparation must be paid in advance by the requesting party. The number of pages is estimated and an adjustment may be made when the transcript is completed. The cost is $3.00 per page for the original and $0.25 per page for each copy (ORS 21.470).

Q: How do I make a request for a written transcript of the recording?

A: If you need a written transcript of an FTR recording, you can take your recording to a certified transcriber. The request for the transcription is made to the Judicial Support Supervisor. Except where a transcript is ordered by the State, the cost of preparation must be paid in advance by the requesting party. The number of pages is estimated and an adjustment may be made when the transcript is completed. The cost is $2.50 per page for the original and $0.25 per page for each copy (ORS 21.470).
