Judgment / Satisfaction in a Small Claim

Judgment / Satisfaction Information

Small Claims Judgments under $3000 are not docketed into the circuit court judgment register. Judgments under $3000 must be transcribed to the circuit court in order to be docketed. All docketed judgments appear on credit reports.

Any procedure appropriate for collection of other circuit court judgments may be employed to collect money owed in a small claims case, regardless of the amount and whether or not it is a docketed judgment.

The court is not a collection agency. The court does not collect monies for parties in a small claims case. All payments are to be paid directly to the judgment creditor.

When a judgment is cleared, the judgment creditor must file a satisfaction with the court. It is the responsibility of the judgment debtor to make sure that the satisfaction is filed
