Court Implementation of Senate Bill 271 (Civil Fee Waiver and Deferral Bill). This bill authorizes the Chief Justice to adopt by Order clear standards for waiver/deferral of fees in civil matters based on income levels tied to the federal poverty guidelines. It also requires courts to provide, free of charge, standardized forms for individuals to use to request a waiver/deferral of a fee or fees. It also provides the authority for the Presiding Judge to delegate authority to waive or defer fees and costs to the court administrator.
