Received a Ticket -- What's Next?

Read the ticket (citation) carefully; it contains important information.
  1. Have you been charged with a CRIME or a VIOLATION
  2. What are the Alleged Offense(s) and what is the Presumptive Fine ($ Amount) for Each Offense
  3. What is YOUR COURT APPEARANCE DATE, TIME, and LOCATION

If you are charged with a crime, then you MUST appear at the court on the date, time and location indicated on the ticket.

If you are charged with a violation, then you must do one of the following:

  • Option 1 - Enter a plea of no contest and pay the court the amount of the presumptive fine.
  • Option 2 - Enter a plea of no contest and send a letter of explanation.
  • Option 3 - Enter a plea of not guilty and request a trial.
  • Option 4 - Contact the court and determine if you qualify for trial by affidavit.
